Essentially each game (so far) that you buy from PSN has five 'licenses'.  So you get together with friends and create a shared account and when you buy a game you each get to download it.  Each machine that you download it to burns a license.

You don't have to be logged in with the shared account to play the game but you have to leave it on your system.

Chris, Sean and I have a sharing group together; I was thinking about asking more to join but then Chris' PS3 died and I think it burned an extra license to redownload those games to his new system.  That means that if one more of our systems dies, we'll have used up all five licenses, so it may be a good idea to keep the sharing groups down to two or three people.

Wow, that comic describes my experiences with by FlOw.  I actually froze the system and had to reboot becuase I tried to buy without putting money in the bucket (wallet).   ;D

So if I have bought a game under my account and not a shared account, can I still share the other licenses somehow?

If you don't mind sharing your account (including password, but you can still avoid sharing credit card details since it can be deleted after each transaction) with them.  But you can't both log in at the same time with it.  That's why it really needs to be a secondary account; you don't want to use it for online play.  You could always create a new account for your primary usage, I suppose.

Has anyone heard anything on when the PSN point/dollar cards will be coming out so you can add money without using a credit card?  I haven't seen anything new.

Wow, that's a very interesting way for them to do that. I mean, they had to know people would create secondary accounts to do the game sharing, but I can't imagine they would make it possible in an attempt to build a community at the expense of income.

Once I get my PS3, as well as the 5x1 HDMI switchbox and cables I just ordered, I'll have to find some PS3-owning folks and give that a try.

Mortal Kombat II is coming out this Thursday and includes online play for the price of $4.99.  Seems pretty reasonable to me.   I wonder if it will have voice chat, but I'm betting no.

$5 is a pretty sweet price. It's just too bad I have zero interest in Mortal Kombat.

We should be getting Calling All Cars next week, which I'm really excited about.

I did some digging into Super Rub a Dub and I have decided to pass on this game.  I think it sounds pretty lame and IGN sure didn't like it.   Hopefully Calling All Cars comes out soon.

Rampart is out on the PSN tomorrow for $4.99.

That's awesome, though thanks to Sony Online Entertainment (I don't blame Digital Eclipse) we'll be using Marble Blast for chat.  Still, a must-buy, especially with the 66% game sharing discount.

Along with Rampart, Calling All Cars is going to be out today as well.

So much stuff out today.  I'm going to have to tape all my TV shows tonight.

Along with Rampart, Calling All Cars is going to be out today as well.

If Chris sees them, he's going to grab them via the gameshare account.

Everybody else who has a PS3, you should seriously consider creating a game sharing account with some other friends or members for at least the hottest online titles.  Three seems like a good number for each 'club' since you get five licenses but you can lose licenses if your system goes totally kaput on you.  Chris' system died so on the earlier titles we've used four licenses instead of three for those.  I have learned how to 'revoke' an account from a system, so if a system dies slowly there's a way to save those licenses as long as the network connection works.

If there weren't the risk of losing licenses we would have invited another person or two into our club but there's no reason to not create more of them.

If Warhawk comes out as a download-only title that could save big money on that one alone.  Getting the hot downloadable titles for 66% off is hard to beat.

It seems like getting back online tomorrow will cost me a pretty penny between the PSN and 360 stuff out this week.  I'll really get to test out my bandwidth.

Does gameshare work with multiplayer games?  For example if I had purchased MKII as a gameshare, could I play a match against someone I am sharing the game with?

I am interested in doing this, but not with any of the games that are out right now.

Also, about Marble Blast, do you need the full game for chat or will the demo work?
