You are on there too, Dave-O - just a little scroll down.  I haven't called you on it yet.

If I have ever talked to you on the phone you are there.  Let's see...

So Dave, how are things in the 585?

Yes, Chris, you are there too.  Ring!

Nice stuff.  So what's the battery consumption like?  Does it get good reception?  How clear is the sound on it?  Not like I'm buying one anytime soon but I'm just curious.

It looks like I will be syncing this baby about every three or four days based on how much I use it.  It may go to three if I take it into the gym once in a while (not likely, that is what the Nano is for).  I am getting just about the same phone performance as I was getting with my Moto V551, but I prefer the headphone sound on calls over holding it up to my ear.

I still need to try out my Jabra BT headset with it - I'll let you know how that goes and what it does to battery life.  BTW, I am using wi-fi much more frequently than Edge.

Um,  we are now a three iPhone family.

I used the $100 Apple credit to get Suzannah a 4GB model for $199.
My mom had a $100 visa giftcard and wanted one too!

They won't be bothered by the smaller storage - Suzannah will have a gig or two of music and some shows for the kids.  My mom may have a little bit of music, probably not even 1 gb.  They like the interface and functionality.

Yeah, but I don't want to pay the over-priced monthly charges for the phone service. I just thought the WiFi and other features were cool.

I thought Apple ruled, why are the HD in the new ipods suckier than the old ones?

What about the redesigned Nano?

No worries I guess. I don't need one anyway. Thanks for the info :)

Supposedly, there might be an announcement about discounts for AT&T employees, so I might be able to get one. The monthly charges are still a lot more than for the BlackJack, though.

Just not a lot of space. The iPhone/Touch are Flash drives, so they're faster, better battery life, etc., but don't have a lot of room for people with big music/video collections.

I thought they were pretty ugly when the first pictures leaked, but seeing them in person they're nice; very thin and compact.

also, they are missing the notepad feature from the iphone. i know this isn't a killer app, but there is nothing iphoney about it - it's easily an app that could be included on the touch and isn't.

apple does rule, fear not.   :P

i'm really glad the hard drives re becoming flash memory so that the units are more solid-state and can be thrown around, etc. without worry of ruining the hard drive.

Too small for me.  Need 80GB iPod.  Always running out of space on the 60GB.
