The volume increase is very welcome.  iTunes WiFi Store works great and is fun.  You can hear 30 second samples just as quickly as on the computer.  Songs purchased on the iPhone are moved to iTunes during the next sync.

The ringtones I have ripped with MakeiPhoneRingTone were wiped out several iTunes updates ago.  The maker needs to update it for the new iTunes and iPhone software.  It should be pretty easy to get the tones back because the files are still there.

I think Apple did a good job of making iPhone hacking a costly proposition because of how important iTunes is to the whole operation.  You can hack all you want, but if you want new features, you are OOL.

I expect an iChat client soon, along with a sanctioned Installer.app that lets users swap out (or scroll) application icons on the home screen.

Thankfully even the latest firmware updates make no attempt to stop me from running Linux or Rockbox on my 60GB iPod.  The new iPods, however, have blocked custom firmwares...for now (evil grin).

i visited the Apple store today and played with my first iPod touch, iPhone, and new iMac. All three are very attractive. Like a siren they call to me!

iphone in canada for $799?

http://www.betanews.com/article/Report_iPhone_Coming_to_Canada_via_Rogers/1191600464

i won't be buying one at that price. i'm calling bullshit. for some reason, i've a feeling that some peeps don't believe the dollar is at par yet.  :(

that said, they will sell iphones here at that price and then people will bitch when/if the offer rebates.

also, i think that price covers that stupid blank media tarrif we have to pay up in heres. ugh.

I got the $100 apple store credit and also received a $100 credit from AmEx, so that really helped out!

AmEx wouldn't give the full difference?

Yeah, but does it play Doom?

(I really don't want to get an iPhone...but this is pretty sweet!)

I was playing perfect, stylus-capable SCUMMVM on a WM5 smart phone almost two years ago.  :)

But seriously, every real gamer with an iPhone should have this.

My brother just bought an iPhone for himself.

He mentioned that he can't take and send pictures with it.  Now, my brother isn't the most... <ahem> technically proficient of people.  But he pretty good with phones.  Anyone know what he's talking about?

It doesn't support MMS, meaning you cannot send pix from the phone to another phone.  You can send them to e-mail.  Could that be it?

Taking a picture is:

clicking the Camera icon
pointing at the subject and clicking the camera button on the bottom of the screen.

Once you take a shot, you can do the following with it:

use as wallpaper
email photo
assign to contact
send to web gallery (iPhoto 08 required)

He figured out the e-mail thing, but he complained he couldn't do phone to phone pictures.  I just assumed he was missing something.  Thanks!
