If you could cut your alcohol spending in half for two months you could get that new iMac you want.
It usually takes me about a year to finish a bottle of liquor. Or 28, if you're talking Crown Royal.
Sparkz, I've heard good things about Hendricks, I'll get that next time I need a gin.
Geese, my daughter has some of those Aqua Dots. I've ingested a lot of questionable things over the years (twss), but I don't think I'm depraved enough to eat my daughter's toys to get off. I heart Rohypnol!
Phantom, Dewar's is scotch. If you're in a bar and you order a generic "scotch," that's probably what you'll be served. It's fine, but not anything I'd buy for myself. Like Sparkz does, it's something to have around for an older person. It's what my grandparents drank. The only rye I've had was from Rip Van Winkle, since I couldn't afford their $80 bourbon. Not bad, but never made it to the regular rotation. I know what you mean about armagnac. I had the same reaction to a bottle of 1971 Calvados my father was saving for when his grandchild was born. Maybe the French should just stick to their fries and toast.

Oh, I don't keep good rye around. I'm making Old Fashions. No reason to use good rye in that.
Okay, let go from the good stuff to the crazy stuff.
Ever had Key Lime Pie Mad Dog 20/20? It's the scariest beverage around. Why? Because it's a liquid with a pastry aftertaste.
As for mixed drinks, a buddy of mine has a pretty high alcohol tolerance. So, it became very very expensive if he wanted to get drunk. So he invented himself a drink using science. He called it a Tigger Bounce. It has 5 teaspoons of sugar, 5 shots of vodka, and sour mix (wet kind is preferred). You mix it all together (keep stirring because the sugar won't dissolve. Down the entire thing like a shot, and then suck a wedge of lime as dry as you can. The sugar will open up the pores in your stomach, letting the vodka seep right in. Then the sour mix and the lime juice will clench that bad boy right up, pushing the vodka right into your blood stream, taking you straight to stupidville.
You have to get permission from his wife if you want to do one.
The mortal record is 3.

A thread for the ages! I think I’ve gone over my beer preferences here before but I’ll repeat them in short again. I’m a big fan of ales, specifically Pale and IPAs. I’ll drink pretty much anything though, especially if it’s offered (no need to be rude). Every now and then I’ll even have a hankering for a cheep American beer. I think that goes back to the college days. Hell, every now and then I enjoy a kraft single as well even though it doesn’t really count as cheese.
I do enjoy the hard stuff but I don’t drink it that often. I used to be a bartender in a past life and I think that really burned me out on mixed drinks. I’ll still drink the occasional margarita or mint julep but if I want to water down my alcohol I’ll make a highball. I keep a bottle of Jim Beam around just for that purpose. And my ginger ale of choice is Vernors.
I really enjoy bourbon best straight and it’s probably my favorite liquor. Knob Creek is probably my favorite for the price. Scotch is next on my list and I like both the single malts and blends. When I was in Scotland we (Dad and I) went to a distillery and tasted a bunch of different types. That was a fun day. For JW I really prefer Green label. To me it’s just as tasty as Blue but a fraction of the cost. Cognac and Amagnac (a good one) are both quite tasty though I don’t think I even have any in the house at the moment. The rest of the stuff (tequila, vodka, gin, etc.) is pretty “meh” to me.

On a trip to Savannah, GA, we stopped at South of the Border. There's a convenience store on the other side of the road where I tried a
Blenheim Ginger Ale
. All other ginger ales taste like water to me now. It's like someone is fucking your throat with a cheese grater.

I think I saw this in an ECW match sometime in the mid-90s.

While I'm not big on whisky or scotch or anything like that, my dad is a huge fan of Glenfiddich. I'll have to try Johnnie Walker sometime. I've known people who have drank scotch until they liked it just because they thought it made the more refined.
Matt, we really need to get together sometime to drink some beer.
If I'm drinking to get drunk, I usually stick to a mix of beers and shots and the occasional Jagrbomb (these can get you going real fast) or Irish Carbomb. If I'm just having a drink to relax, it's beer.

My dad used to knock back Manhattans. Actually a Perfect Manhattan, which uses sweet vermouth rather than dry. I think it was Mohawk vermouth, and he liked Canadian Club for the whiskey portion of it.
My uncle, though...he was a dyed-in-the-wool alcoholic. I'm surprised he is still alive. At our family Xmas parties, I recall he'd knock off at least a fifth of scotch over the course of an evening. Scotch and soda was his thing, and King William was his preferred brand. At home, he used to buy those larger bottles of booze with the handles on them--I don't recall what capacity those were, but he used to buy a case of 'em at a time, every few weeks.

I like vodka, but never drink it. So beer is pretty much it.

I like beer, and I was in heaven in Germany. I generally only drank the standard liqours such as vodka, gin or rum, but Crystal's dad got me into Scotch and Cognac in the last two years. We actually went through an entire bottle of Remy XO in one night while we were in FL two months ago. Since then I've decided I can drink just about anything. Right now my preferred drinks are:
Scotch (Macallan 22+; King's Crest 25)
Red Bull & Vodka (drink or bombs, doesn't matter as long as I'm beligerent afterwards)
Guinness (only on draft, not those gay widget cans)
Car Bomb (my girl likes these with only Bailey's, which I've dubbed the "Fender Bender")
Blonde Headed Slut (yes, it's a shot; whore sister of the red headed variety)
Grand Marnier (warm, not chilled for PU**IES!!)
Miller Lite (for those rare Beer Pong, Poker, Asshole kinda nights)

Dylan, I've never had Red Bull and Vodka but Red Bull and Jager as a bomb is quite good. I've only ever had an Irish Car Bomb (Guiness and Baileys), what other kinds are there?
I'm going to a party on Friday and plan on putting my liver through its paces. I'm sure there will be pictures afterwards.

Now and then I treat myself to some Shakespeare Stout. When I'm in the mood for something more intense I'll pick up a bottle of Appleton White rum. The rum also has the benefit of flavoring my pipe when it needs a good cleaning.

Maybe it's time to put my two cents worth in this thread.
My drink of choice is red wine, for the most part. I once hated it and LOVED white wine. Now it's the opposite. Ontario actually makes some pretty good red wines too.
As for beer...Corona, Guiness or PC Lite (another Canadian beer; and it's cheap. Oh, and it's Jeremy's beer of choice
).
Maybe some of you have tried this mixed drink before: Cranberry Juice, Melon Liquer and Vodka. Sometimes, I add Raspberry Sourpuss. It's like drinking candy! I've heard a few names thrown around for it (the main one being Killer Koolaide).
Oh, I also love whiskey and tequila...

The car bombs I've had involve Guiness, Baileys, and Jameson.
Best drink with the worst/most awkward name? Liquid Cocaine. SoCo and Pineapple juice I believe. There might be something esle I'm forgetting.
I used to do Girl Scout Cookies, which is a bee line to fucked up. That's Baileys, Creme de Mint, and vodka. There's also Fire and Ice, which is one part Aftershock and one part Avalanche.
I am also a big red wine fan. I tend to go for the dry Italian (or Californian) reds. There are a fair amount of NY wines that are really good, and some of them aren't dry reds. There is an "Italian" winery on one of the finger lakes (Bellangelo) that has a great red that tastes faintly of coffee. Fantastic! I also adore reds from Australia.
