Left4Dead DLC out - but don't buy it (yet)

Quote
Because if you do, you'll be paying too much. Instead of the promised 560MSP price point, the Left 4 Dead expansion has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace at 800MSP. You might want to wait until it's fixed.

And fixed it will be, Microsoft's Larry Hryb confirming that the price is indeed a mistake, and not some exercise in misery wrought by the dark overlords of Xbox Live. In his words, "hold off until you see that price before you purchase", which should be sometime later today. Hopefully sometime soon.

Unfortunately it's only 2 chapters long unlike 5 for all the other campaigns.

I'll still be buying it, but I'm less happy about the price point now.

ooohhh, that stings a little more, knowing that it's free for PC

I'm just getting warmed up after 2 chapters!

Chris and I ran through several levels last night and had a blast (literally and figuratively).  The game is more difficult, but in a way that draws you further in and has you paying attention to cues that didn't exist in the first game.  Chris opened a hotel door with smoke coming out of it and triggered a backdraft that engulfed the whole corridor.  We had to backtrack into a room, bust out the glass and walk along the ledge to get around the flames.

The special infected are really ferocious.  The two that seem most dangerous to me are the charger and the spitter.  The charger actually seemed tougher to kill than the first tank we came across.  Smokers try to attack and then quickly retreat if you pursue them instead of standing still for a headshot.

I could have spent an hour in the Gun Shop.  There are some fantastic weapons available that are a huge step up from what you start the game with, as well as from L4D.  I think the criticism of the game being too difficult is inaccurate.  Once you find a controller layout you like (choose from four) and get comfortable with the new weapons it starts to feel a little familiar, just with extra awesome.  The in-game banter amongst the four protagonists is not to be missed!

Don't know if anyones playing the PC version anymore, but they updated L4D2 with a free, brand new community designed campaign called "Cold Stream".

It will apparently release for the X360 version at some point as well, although the price point hasn't been determined yet.

They also updated the PC version so that the entire original L4D campaign is playable with the updated engine from L4D2. This will probably not be coming to X360.

I grabbed the double pack of L4D/L4D2 off Steam earlier today for $7.50.

Which means not only behind the scenes processing and rendering, but it means that the newer "super-zombies" from L4D2 (like the spitter and that little hunchback one) show up in the original campaign now.
