Valve is so good at marketing.  Steam is really transforming the PC gaming software business.  Some of their weekend sales are spiking volume up by 1000% plus.

Yeah, some of Steam's weekend sales are great (some, not so much if you have Gametap) but I was able to get L4D PC a few months ago at $24.99. Got two installations of it, which is really nice for some of my PC buddies who are still afraid of a gamepad. Plus, there's unofficial mods that allow splitscreen on the PC version too. Worked like a charm. I also like how anything I purchase via Steam at home is fully playable (legally!) on my work PC as well. And if the game supports "steam cloud" then even your mouse & keyboard settings transfer over (it pulls them from a server).
