World Cup 2011
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:28:38 PM »

The US women are getting it on right now. I feel lame in that I only watched one other game this year, but it was the Brazil v US game that was the best sporting event I can remember watching in forever.

Whoever wins today (it's still 0-0) will make me happy. Kinda like when the Saints made the Superbowl after Katrina and when the Yankees made the World Series after 9/11, it's gotta be good for morale to see Japan in the finals after the quake and tsunami. And good for them if they win. Still, I'm pulling for the good old U S of A.

Now what happened to all the vuvuzelas from last year? Was that just a South Africa thing?

The vuvuzela is strictly a South African thing. Everyone else roundly hates it and wants it banned from international competition.

That was another scream-at-the-tv match, this time with not as good results for the US.

Japan deserved the victory after two almost-last-minute goals to tie.
