There's a kind of a half-assed solution that they've come up with in the last few months, but it would still require me to spend (literally) man-days of re-encoding and tweaking to get my collection up to date, and then those resulting files (joined files with chapter marks) would be far from ideal when I played them in my modded Xbox and other 'mp3 players' that I own, so I'd need a duplicate collection.

Still, my Karma has seen better days, I'm going to have to switch to something else before too long.   I really need more than 20GB, also.

This is essentially what I've been waiting for.  Yes it would be nice to have gapless playback (cold it really be that hard for Apple to implement?) but I don't do a whole lot of serious listening with my iPod.  I don't mind missing a bit here or there most of the time.  Would I prefer it the other way?  Yes, but I could really use that 60GB of space.  And it's so pretty in black.

I read that with QuickTime 7.0.3 installed, all QT enabled apps have a new export for iPod built-in. That is cool.

Are these vids actually native 320x240, or are they higher-res for compatibilty with future devices?

In case any of my fellow Mac brothers missed it - there is an OS update released today. 10.4.3 should be available from Software Update.  There's nothing exciting to report as far as features go...

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on my new Precious - a 15" (twss) Powerbook!  That thing is too cool for school and just what the doctor ordered.  Anybody else out there with one of these?

Two grand!   I could buy a more powerful 15" Dell for half that.   Yowza!

I'm not Apple bashing, I just had no idea that the price disparity was so great these days!

Hey, seeing what raving fans will pay for their stuff makes me think I need to buy some Apple stock!
