Television - what are you watching?
« on: September 22, 2005, 12:42:49 PM »

Bryan's bunrout thread had some television talk and reminded me that I totally forgot about Lost last night!!  I'm just making my way through Season 1 (amazing show so far - four episodes in).  I've got a few other shows on the go at the moment as well.  Family Guy, The Simpsons (never say die!), Threshold (I've got the two-hour premiere to watch), Lost and Survivor.  I haven't been this interested in television in a long time.

Next March, The Sopranos starts back up which will be essential viewing.  I do intend to check out Battlestar Galactica as well.

So, what are you watching?

Here's everything that I watch that I can think of:

Battlestar Galactica
Lost
CSI
Family Guy
Curb Your Enthusiasm (what, about five episodes a year on average)
The Sopranos (ditto)
Mythbusters
The Daily Show

And invidual specials and such that catch my eye.   I might check out another show or two this year.

When you consider the sporadic occurrence of episodes of many of the shows I watch, I probably only watch about four hours a week of television a week at the most, and almost none in the summer (not counting The Daily Show, which is my 'news').   I really should get rid of my high-def cable, as it's the most expensive entertainment per hour that I have.

Simpsons
Rome
Family Guy
Desperate Housewives
Arrested Development
House
The Office
So You Think You Can Dance?
Lost
Joey
The O.C.
Hope & Faith
What I Like About You

There is not enough Battlestar Galactica love in this thread.   :'(

In order of what I'm watching (my TiVo Season Pass):

Battlestar Galactica
TNA iMpact
Deadwood
Lost
Rome
Survivor: Wherever the hell they are this season
The Apprentice

I cannot stress how good Battlestar Galactica is.  Best sci-fi drama on TV.  Fantastic writing, fantastic acting and I appreciat ethe fact the creators seem to have a clear cut idea of what and where they're going.  This is of course, unlike Lost which I think they pull stories out of a hat each week, yet it is still quite a good show.

Oh, sometimes I'll watch Amazing Race when they are on.

I quit Survivor a couple of years ago, and I quit 24 last year.

I also watch FoodTV and Discovery a bit as well.  Usually more during the summer.  I just got HBO and Showtime free for a year so I imagine I'll get sucked into a few shows there as well.

Mind of Mencia is a damn funny show as well, I just keep forgetting about it.

Dora the Explorer
Higglytown Heroes
The Backyardigans
Oobi

Lets not forget Bear in the Big Blue House and Blues Clues.  I think I am in the same boat as you right now.
But I do enjoy some real TV thanks to the DVR.
Oh and Chris I just got BSG disks 1 and 2 from Blockbuster, never saw the show but I have heard some great things about it.

If any of the new scifi-ish shows this fall are especially good, please let me know, and I'll check them out.

Howie, make sure you watch the miniseries first!  That explains a LOT of the background in BSG.

If it's from Blockbuster, it should be the new set, the one that starts with the miniseries.

Any iteration of Power Rangers
Transformers Energon
Teen Titans

Sometimes, if my son is asleep:

Family Guy
ATHF

When new episodes come on:

Sopranos
Deadwood
House

My wife watches:
Every CSI show
HGTV
VH-1

I personally loathe reality stuff. In fact, if it wasn't for video games, DVDs and my wife, I wouldn't even have a TV. Most of the stuff on is garbage and there are way too many books to read.

I would like to see BSG, though. I was unable to watch after the second episode or so. If my Blockbuster has it, I will rent it.
