Looks like the casting for The Walking Dead series is really coming along.
They've just cast Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara from Prison Break) as Rick's wife Lori.
I think she's a great choice.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. The comic is definitely very graphic, in terms of violence and nudity, so I'm curious to see how it is toned down for AMC. I've read the first 48 issues (Compendium 1) and I thought it started really strongly but the last third of the story
(click to show/hide)
(where they get taken captive in the town of psychos)
I could have done with out. Just thought it was weak storytelling and wasn't really necessary.
I'm guessing the show will be in colour, though it would be cool in B&W like the comic is.
It'll be interesting to see how Frank Darabont does with something not originally written by Stephen King. I'm sure he'd like to forget The Majestic.

Previews for all the new TV shows.
Lawyers, cops and doctors. Is this all they can think of?

The show Til Death is going off the rails. The show reinvents itself weekly in a desperate attempt to get some ratings, and it's like no one at Fox even watches before putting it on air. The secondary characters get rotated in and out all the time, the daughter has been played but three actresses this season alone, and one of the characters thinks he's on a sitcom and is commenting about all the comings and goings as it happens. The writers really seem to just be throwing darts at story and character ideas, and somehow they're getting on the air. I love it. The last episode I saw even had a mini-Blossom reunion. Six does not look good, let me tell you.

My brother turned me on to Archer last week. It's an animated show on FX about a spy and his co-workers. It's crazy funny and full of big-ish names like Jessica Walters, Aisha Tyler, Chris Parnell, and Judy Greer. Archer himself is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, and it's tough to not see Coach McGurk from Home Movies, but I got used to it eventually. In fact, I see Archer becoming an even more classic character if that's possible.
I'm no comic-book guy, but the art in the show is pretty bad-ass in my book. Certainly a step up from Home Movies!

Were you able to watch McGurk on Home Movies without envisioning Ben from the vastly superior Dr. Katz?

Archer is superior to both Home Movies and Dr. Katz.

Well, not touching that one, I will say that if you can't cross over between sterling and Coach, try to avoid seeing Jon Benjamin in some live role.

Boston Med is a great show. My wife loves Grey's anatomy, I hate it. I can't take fake soap drama. But Boston Med is essentially a documentary show covering the real life drama that naturally occurs in big city hospitals. I don't think I can do it justice with words, so I'll just say it's quite enjoyable and I'd highly recommend it.
And Tosh.O is still my favorite show! It never fails to amuse me to tears at some point, and often throughout. I just wish it was an hour long, it's over too quickly each week.

I've always enjoyed Daniel Tosh's stand-up and I like Tosh.0. I usually watch it a bit delayed, so I can fast-forward through stupid idiots hurting themselves.

The first of three weekly Sherlock Holmes telefilms aired (since PBS has the rights here and is being slow, you are going to have to use torrents or newsgroups to watch this in the US) last week and it was fantastic.

I was really, really skeptical about having Holmes and Watson existing in 2010 but within 30 minutes my reservations evaporated. Check it out.
I was also impressed with the first episode AMC's Rubicon, which is a 13-episode conspiracy series in the vein of Three Days of the Condor.

Official debut is August 1, I caught an earlier sneak preview.

OMG what is going to happen on Friday Night Lights!? The writers have really been piling on the hurt this season for our main characters. Is it all leading up to a victorious redemption for Coach Taylor and the Lions, or will the Panthers take em down? Season finale is Friday.

I'm a bad person. I've only watched one episode of the new season of Futurama. Have you all been watching? Is it good?

I've seen a couple of episodes. It's fine. I laugh.
I'm really loving Rubicon on AMC. Very cerebral, deliberately paced, great cinematography and score.

Rubicon is awesome. Hopefully they don't try to stretch it out to a second season. Just do one awesome season, please.
