Aeon Flux?
« on: January 20, 2005, 12:55:52 PM »

Has anyone heard anything about this movie?  I remember watching the cartoon on MTV years ago...kind of had that "Carnivale" vibe to it, where I liked watching it but had no idea what was going on...I know that Charlize Theron is playing Aeon but that's about it...Anyone else planning on seeing it when it comes out?

"Aeon Flux" is set 400 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. Theron plays the title role of Aeon Flux, the top operative in the underground Monican rebellion, led by the Handler, played by Frances McDormand. When Aeon is sent on a mission to kill the government's leader (Martin Csokas), she uncovers a world of secrets, which makes her question everything she thought she knew.

I remember Aeon Flux very well.  It was created and directed by Peter Chung, and was part of 'Liquid Television', an animated anthology series that I miss to this very day.

AF had a bit more style than substance, IMO, but it was still a great show.

I'm not sure how well this will translate to live-action.

At least Uwe Boll ('House of the Dead', 'Alone in the Dark', 'Bloodrayne', 'Hunter: The Reckoning', and 'Far Cry') isn't directing...I fear him.

Charlize Theron  :drool

I use to watch Aeron Flux.  My favorite, hard to follow (especially if you smoked certain substances) cartoon on MTV was the Maxx.

Based on the animated Aeon Flux, that photo of Charlize Theron has about 90% more clothing than it should.

It also has about 90% less boobies.

LOL  Actually, my thought was that there was no way Charlize would be able to fight in the getups the cartoon Aeon wore... ;D  Although it is kinda funny that Charlize is, for the better part, entirely covered in that picture...Maybe that's a scene from the the beginning of the movie before all of her clothes get shot off by the bad guys?

I was mystified by The Maxx as well...didn't keep me from watching it though...

I did dig the shoe, although sometimes it was confusing. I really don't think it'll translate well to live-action, IMO.

You may be right graph...I've been wondering exactly what they're going to do with it...I'll still probably check it out though...

I think I have some the Maxx comics in a box somewhere...:) I liked both shows as well.
