Mercury (PSP) - killer video posted!

Check out the 'full frame' video in the lower left.

This is the first title I will buy.  No other title has me as enthused as Mercury.

For a long time I've loved games like 'Marble Madness' and 'Super Monkey Ball'.  Mercury looks like a dream come true!

GameSpot has it's review up :

Looks pretty good.  Apparently you don't control the mercury, but rather the board that it rests on, much like SMB.

When I get a PSP, I'll definitely want to check this one out.

This is the type of game that would sell a system to me.  Not yet though.

So give us some impressions Mike!!!

Well, I really wanted to play more levels first.

I grabbed this yesterday at GameRush.   They told me that they only received (1) copy, so we may have a new Worms 3D on our hand (sparse distribution).

Some quick thoughts:

1)   Each level has it's own high-score board (top 5), so you can go back and try to get the best score.
2)   Most levels involve multiple, colored blobs, with different colored switches, paint machines, gates, etc.   You'll find yourself having to combine (or having to avoid combining) blobs, dividing blobs, painting blobs, to get through the level.
3)   Each level has a time limit.   I've seen limits from 10 to 90 seconds, but I suspect they get longer.
4)   The levels get larger as you go.   The levels I'm playing are still smaller than many of the ones from the screenshots and videos.
5)   Box says ad hoc and infrastructure, but the box lies about the latter.   LAN mode is a race on the same boards with ghost blobs to show your opponent.   Wish I had some PSP buddies close by.

I like the game, but I really like games like Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball.   Those who don't,  might want to rent or avoid.

Just broke down and bought a PSP. Very cool! This is one of the first games I bought. Very cool indeed!

It reminds me of Marble Madness, but a bit trickier. You have to mix the blobs to get certain colors, but it takes a few tries to get the hang of it. I always try these games first, before I look at the rules and directions!

Graphics are spectacular. I like this one a lot!

Jon,

I just found out that the only 'legit' way of unlocking the hidden seventh world is by getting first place on every board.   I'm usually in fifth or fourth place.   Ack!

How are your scores?
